I bought the Targus 17" Sport Backpack since my old Kensington backpack is showing its age (about 10 years old). The price was right so I ordered it online which meant I didn't have the chance to hold or wear it beforehand; I wish I had because I probably would've passed on buying it.
The backpack is constructed well but it feels light and flimsy. The outer material used is fairly thin so if the backpack fell or if I accidentally knocked it into something, I wouldn't feel confident that my laptop would be safe. The inside compartment that holds the laptop in place is also very thin; it feels like it's just double-lined material without any padding in between. If I were wearing the backpack and leaned back onto something, there would definitely be the threat of something like my power charger pushing against the laptop and denting it.
Another feature that I didn't really find useful was the outside compartment; there is a strange pullout flap that is totally exposed. It's supposed to hold things like pens/pencils, etc. but because this flap is exposed, it would be easy for someone walking behind you to just pull something out without you even knowing it. This flap pulls up from an open pocket but is attached so it's not removable. The flap is also fairly large, spanning the entire outer face of the compartment.
I have other Targus products that I'm happy with so I was disappointed by the quality of this item. About the only thing I see going for this backpack is the price, but you really do get what you pay for. I'll stick with my old backpack for now until I can find a better quality alternative.

Good price for what you get. Great fast service. The 17" laptop case is a really great option. It's been a good college backpack so far
